We believe that St. Andrew’s is a
Holy and Spiritual place, and that God — Father, Son and Holy Spirit — is
with us. Our
church services include Holy Eucharist — also called Holy Communion,
Mass and
the Lord’s Supper.
|
We blend the rich
traditions of the Anglican Church with Gospel music and contemporary flair.
On major Holy Days and the first Sunday of each month, we celebrate Solemn High Eucharist with incense and more traditional
liturgies.
|
We are also open to exciting and innovative
experiences in our liturgies, and are a good church home for people from
diverse backgrounds. During worship, some stand for praying — some
kneel, some cross themselves — some don’t, some bow to the cross —
some don’t. All are God’s
children, and welcome as part of our family.
Many
of our members participate in our worship services.

The Sacrament of
Marriage
Acolytes are recognized for another year of service and one received a
Book of Common Prayer as we wish her well as she goes off to college.

More about our
acolytes.

Son & Dad led the music when
Music Director was on vacation. |

In November 2008, three
baby girls were baptized.
Many of these pictures show
Fr. Lynn McCallum, who was our Rector for 10 years, retiring in August 2007.
Fr. Gene Pearson joined us as our
Interim Rector in September 2007.
Fr. Jeremiah Williamson became our
Rector on April 1, 2009. |

Ushers help children learn by
having them take the Eucharist elements to the acolytes and showing them how
to collect the offering.

Holy Baptism is a Sacrament. Babies and children are baptized with
parents and family as sponsors. Adults are baptized when they make
their own decision. We baptize with water "in the name of the Father,
the Son, and the Holy Spirit."

Fr. McCallum offered
counseling and the marriage liturgy for our parish members who wish to make their vows.
Now Fr. Pearson helps prepare couples who seek to be married at St.
Andrew's.

Sometimes we have church
services outdoors - on our own lawn and at local parks.
 |
Fr. Peter Grist, of St.
Matthew's, Nassau in the Bahamas visited us in Fall 2007.
We were fortunate to have him preach and assist in some of our services.
Fr.
Eldon Smith occasionally celebrates Holy Eucharist at St. Andrew's. He
is retired as Rector of Trinity in Findlay, Ohio.

St. Andrew the fisherman
visited our parish to help us remember that we need to be fishers of men
(and women) and sometimes fishers of funds to help keep our parish going!
 |
Every Sunday, we continue the
tradition of celebrating birthdays and wedding anniversaries.

Our
well-trained acolytes perform their duties with reverence and joy.
They
lead the procession, light
the candles, carry the incense, candles, and
crosses, and ring the Eucharist bells. And they plan ahead, especially
for special services like Christmas Eve Midnight Mass.

Our choir members are dedicated to enhancing our worship experience. The choir leads the chanted psalms and prayers
and sing anthems. |

Liturgical hangings that correspond with the
seasons of the church year grace our worship space. They add to the
beauty of our church services, and illustrate our joy in worshipping Jesus. |

Our children spend 10 weeks learning about the
meaning of Holy Communion, made their stoles, and participated in a Sunday
Eucharist service.
As part of their education,
Moses led the children through the Red Sea.
